Together

Together is the next creation in which Alexander Gottfarb continues to research daily, ritual, physical practices that are part of our shared public sphere which can be political (as in Political Movements, 2010) or religious (as in Moved by Faith, 2011). For this he has been working with repetition and transformation, with discipline and exhaustion. After his last performance, A Matter of Belief (2015) in which he developed his own ritual movement practice, this new creation wants to research how rituals can support collaboration.

Inspired by Richard Sennett’s book, Together, the Rituals, Pleasures and Politics of Cooperaton, Alexander Gottfarb will share his practice with Sophie Augot and Raúl Maia and research some of Sennett’s insights, for instance how ‘ritual makes expressive cooperation work’ and how ‘repetition in time makes cooperation both sustainable and improvable’.

How will three bodies physically negotiate their co-existence in the same space? How will they both influence each other and keep their own integrity? How will they come ‘together’?

The result will be again a long durational piece in which the three performers will live for more than 24 hours in the Projektraum of WUK and perform several movement cycles of 3 hours each, which are shared with the public, which can come and go. From Friday January 20th 9pm till Saturday 21st, 12pm.
